Behind Brown Brothers Community Services is a young man whose life and experiences inspired a mission much bigger than himself.
Jeremiah is a young adult living with complex developmental, neurological, and physical disabilities. He communicates without spoken words, but that does not mean he lacks a voice, opinions, preferences, or the ability to advocate for himself.
Throughout his life, Jeremiah and his family have navigated systems that are not always designed to accommodate individuals with significant support needs. These experiences have highlighted the importance of individualized care, meaningful communication, knowledgeable professionals, and the simple expectation that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
Jeremiah's journey has shaped the values behind BBCS. His experiences are a constant reminder that support should never be one-size-fits-all, that independence looks different for everyone, and that individuals should not have to fit neatly into existing service models to receive the care they deserve.
Jeremiah is not defined by his disabilities, and BBCS was not created to define him by them.
Rather, his life serves as the inspiration for building an organization where individuals with complex needs are seen, heard, respected, and supported as the unique people they are.
He is our muse, our motivation, and a reminder of why this work matters.
Founder & Executive Director | Brown Brothers Community Services, LLC
Ashley Johnson is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Licensed Behavior Analyst, former special education teacher, and dedicated disability advocate with extensive experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Her professional expertise, combined with her personal experience as the mother of a young adult with complex neurological, developmental, and physical disabilities, provides a unique perspective on the challenges individuals and families face when navigating disability service systems.
Throughout her career, Ashley has been committed to promoting independence, meaningful inclusion, self-determination, and the right of individuals with disabilities to receive services tailored to their unique needs.
As a parent, she has experienced firsthand the challenges of securing appropriate services, coordinating care, advocating for necessary supports, and navigating systems that do not always adequately accommodate individuals with complex needs.
These experiences inspired her to establish Brown Brothers Community Services, LLC.
Ashley founded BBCS with the belief that individuals should not have to fight for services that recognize their dignity, respect their choices, and address their needs. She understands that quality support requires more than meeting minimum standards. It requires knowledgeable professionals, consistency, accountability, collaboration, and a genuine commitment to the people being served.
Her vision is to build an organization that prioritizes quality over quantity, maintains a personalized approach to service delivery, and ensures that individuals with significant support needs are not overlooked or excluded because their care requires additional resources or expertise.
Through BBCS, Ashley hopes to combine her clinical knowledge, educational background, and lived experience to create meaningful opportunities for individuals with disabilities while supporting the families and professionals who are part of their lives.
