At Brown Brothers Community Services, LLC (BBCS), we believe that every individual deserves access to high-quality services that recognize their unique strengths, preferences, and support needs.
We are developing a range of home- and community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through Maryland's Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), with a particular commitment to individuals with complex behavioral, neurological, developmental, and medical support needs.
Our approach emphasizes dignity, self-determination, meaningful participation, and individualized care.
Behavior is a form of communication, and understanding the individual is essential to providing meaningful support.
BBCS is prioritizing Behavioral Support Services designed to help individuals, families, and support teams better understand behavioral needs, develop effective strategies, and improve overall quality of life.
Planned services include:
Behavioral Assessments: Identifying factors that influence behavior, including environmental conditions, communication needs, and individual experiences.
Behavior Support Planning: Developing individualized strategies that promote positive outcomes, independence, and meaningful participation.
Behavioral Consultation: Collaborating with individuals, families, caregivers, and support professionals to address behavioral concerns.
Brief Support Implementation Services: Providing hands-on guidance, modeling, and training to help support teams implement behavioral strategies effectively.
Our approach prioritizes positive behavior supports, prevention, skill development, and respect for individual rights.
As BBCS grows, we intend to expand our service offerings while maintaining our commitment to individualized, high-quality support.
Personal Supports are intended to assist individuals with daily living activities while promoting independence, choice, and meaningful participation in their homes and communities.
Supports may include:
Assistance with daily living and personal care activities
Developing and maintaining independent living skills
Support with household routines and daily responsibilities
Assistance with accessing community activities
Individualized support based on assessed needs and personal goals
Our goal is to provide dependable assistance while respecting each individual's preferences, routines, abilities, and right to make decisions.
Community inclusion should be about more than simply being present in the community. It should involve meaningful experiences, personal interests, relationships, and opportunities for growth.
Community Development Services will focus on helping individuals build connections and participate in activities that matter to them.
Supports may include:
Exploring community interests and opportunities
Building and maintaining social relationships
Developing community participation skills
Increasing confidence and independence in community settings
Participating in personally meaningful activities
Services will be individualized to reflect each person's interests, strengths, and goals.
We recognize that individuals with complex medical and developmental needs may require knowledgeable nursing oversight to support their health and safety.
BBCS plans to incorporate Nursing Support Services through qualified Registered Nurses, including delegating nurses, in accordance with Maryland requirements.
Services may include:
Nursing assessments and consultations
Nursing delegation when appropriate
Training and competency evaluations for authorized support staff
Ongoing nursing oversight
Collaboration with healthcare providers and support teams
Our goal is to promote safe, coordinated care while supporting individuals in their homes and communities.
Families and unpaid caregivers play an essential role in supporting individuals with disabilities, and access to dependable respite services can help sustain that support.
BBCS plans to offer individualized respite services that provide temporary support while giving primary caregivers opportunities for rest and relief.
Our approach will emphasize continuity, safety, respect for established routines, and attention to each individual's unique needs.
At BBCS, we believe quality should never be sacrificed for growth.
Rather than focusing on serving the greatest number of individuals, our goal is to maintain a manageable service capacity that allows us to prioritize individualized planning, knowledgeable professionals, meaningful relationships, and accountability.
We recognize that individuals with complex needs may require additional time, resources, coordination, and expertise. We believe those needs deserve thoughtful attention rather than becoming barriers to receiving appropriate support.
Our commitment is simple: Services should be designed around the individual, not the other way around.
BBCS plans to begin serving individuals in Montgomery County, Maryland, with future expansion anticipated in Prince George's County, Baltimore County, and Baltimore City.
Brown Brothers Community Services is currently in the pre-operational phase and pursuing the necessary regulatory approvals.
